It started with someone we loved.
NutriBrownRice® didn't begin with a business plan. It began in 2012, when our co-founder Allycia's sister was diagnosed with brain cancer.
Like many families facing a serious illness, we suddenly started paying much closer attention to food — and one conversation, about the importance of whole grains in a varied diet, sent us down a path we never expected.
We started with brown rice.
We began researching brown rice and looking for ways to make whole grains easier to include in everyday life. What fascinated us wasn't a single "miracle nutrient" — it was the grain itself.
During that journey, we sourced naturally greenish brown rice, which keeps a soft green tinge from natural chlorophyll before it's polished away. At the time, that colour mattered to us for personal reasons, and it became part of our own family's diet. Brown rice became our starting point — not because we believed one ingredient could cure illness, but because we believed everyday food deserved more attention.
In 2014, we lost her.
Our sister passed away just as NutriBrownRice® was becoming a commercial product. She never got to see where this journey would eventually take us. But she left us with something much bigger than a product idea: "Take care of yourself while you can — not only when you're lying in a hospital bed."
That belief has stayed at the heart of NutriBrownRice® ever since. Not miracle cures. Not fear. Just making better everyday nutrition easier to practise.
Then our son changed the story again.
Also in 2014, our young son developed a serious bone infection. He underwent months of treatment that included antibiotics, and it made us pay much closer attention to what he was eating and drinking.
As parents, we began simplifying his diet and removing ingredients we wanted him to avoid, including dairy and lactose. That raised a very practical question: could we make the comforting brown rice drink we had been developing without relying on dairy at all?
That question helped shape what NutriBrownRice® is today — a brown-rice-based drink that is dairy-free, lactose-free and plant-based. Eventually we took the idea one step further and added prebiotic inulin, from 2.2g to 10.4g per serving depending on flavour.
Inulin helps increase intestinal bifidobacteria.
So, we created the drink we wished our family had.
That became NutriBrownRice®.
One sachet. Warm water. Stir. Sip. No complicated wellness ritual — just a comforting drink that fits into everyday family life.
We made it because we needed it.

More than a decade later, NutriBrownRice® is still built around the lessons that started this journey: whole grains matter, what we eat every day matters, and healthy habits are much easier to maintain when they fit into real life.
Not because NutriBrownRice® is medicine. It isn't. But because looking after yourself shouldn't have to begin when something goes wrong.
